Frequently asked questions.

Q: Who can participate in this event?
Ans: This is an open event. Anyone can participate. Participants who are below the age of 18 must be accompanied by a guardian.

Q: I don’t know how to swim, will it be ok?
Ans: Participants will walk in very shallow waters. However, you must have basic swimming skills as a precondition for participation.

Q: What if I get injured or sick?
Ans: A medical team is always on standby and will be travelling parallel to participants. If it is required, you will be immediately evacuated by a speed boat to the nearest health center for medical treatment. Medical evacuation to Male, in the event of a serious injury is not in our scope. Participants are advised to take medical insurance.

Q: Do all the participants must walk the full 35km?
Ans: No. not necessary. Only those who wish to achieve the goal of 35km walk will do so.

Q: I am tired! What should I do?
Ans: Tell your group leader about your condition. He will arrange a boat transfer to next stopping Island.

Q: Will there be a toilet in camping island?
Ans: Yes. There will be a basic arrangement for a toilet. Camping style.

Q: What if nature calls while walking in the lagoon?
Ans: Just tell your group leader. He will take you to the nearest island.

Q: How about mobile phone coverage in the area?
Ans: Both Dhiraagu and Wataniya networks cover the area. Away from inhabited islands the reception gets low but it is manageable.

Q. Do we have to carry our baggage along with us during the walk?
Ans: No. You will only require to tag your baggage and unloading and loading your luggage to a dhoni . Dhoni carrying luggage will be there in every stopping island. Participants are requested to carry regular items like lotion, anti-chafing gel and other regular items in a small bag.

Q. What type of food will be available during the trip?
Ans: Normal Dhivehi food will be served during lunch times. Dinner at camping site will be ready mix noodles. During the walk water, energy drinks, chocolates, and biscuits will be rationed. Participants who require special diets shall arrange such meals themselves.

Q. How much water will I get per day during the trip?
Ans: You will get 5 bottles of 500ml mineral water per day and 2 bottles of 1500ml water at camp site. You may use one bottle for rinsing salt off.
